Keeping your windows in optimal condition ensures their durability, functionality, and energy efficiency. Follow these steps recommended by ProWindow:

Recommended Frequency

  • General cleaning: every 3 months
  • Check seals and hardware: every 6 months
  • Lubricate moving mechanisms: every 12 months

1. Glass Cleaning

  • Use a mixture of warm water and mild soap or ammonia-free glass cleaner.
  • Clean with a microfiber cloth or soft sponge.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners or blades that can scratch the glass.

2. Profile Cleaning (PVC or aluminum)

  • Use a damp cloth with mild detergent.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents, or metal scouring pads.
  • Dry thoroughly to prevent moisture buildup in corners.

3. Drainage Channels

  •  Check that they are free of obstructions such as dust, leaves, or insects.

  • You can use a small brush or compressed air to clean the holes.

4. Hardware and Moving Parts

  • Clean the rails and hinges with a dry cloth or brush.
  • Lubricate the opening mechanisms (sliding or casement) with silicone oil or a specific window lubricant.
  • Do not use grease or heavy oils that accumulate dust.

5. Gaskets and Seals

  • Avoid forcing the sashes if you notice resistance when opening or closing.
  • Check the tightness of any visible screws.
  • If your window has leaks or structural problems, don’t attempt to repair it yourself; contact us.
